Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Woman jailed on burglary, fraud and conspiracy charges
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 10/08/2015 - 11:31amA 26-year-old Mound House woman was booked Tuesday into Carson City Jail on five felony warrant charges, including burglary, fraud and conspiracy, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Candis Coffman was arrested Tuesday, 12:49 p.m. in the area of Harbin and Carson streets. She was booked on two felony counts burglary, two counts fraudulent use of a credit card and conspiracy. Bail: $30,000.
Carson City Sheriff's Office swears in new deputy
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 10/05/2015 - 10:46amThe Carson City Sheriff's Office has a new deputy. Bruce Pendragon, 30, was officially sworn in as a uniformed peace officer on Friday by Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Pendragon has been assigned to the detention division. His mother, Stephanie Ardelean, a sheriff's office volunteer, pinned the badge on her son during the ceremony.

The all-day fundraiser will feature special guest Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt and a video appearance by actor Joe Mantegna, of "Criminal Minds" and "The Simpsons." Headlining band will be Lavish Green. One hundred percent of the profit proceeds from the benefit will be presented to the Howell family.

The grant award tops off a three-year effort to develop a Carson City School Resource Officer Program, dedicated to the schools and functionally operated out of the sheriff’s office, said Furlong. The grant provides for salaries and benefits of three officers who will work alongside youth 12 months a year both inside and outside the classroom.

According to the arrest report, deputies patrolling the area of North Roop and Northridge were advised of a possible suicidal subject driving a vehicle.

Brian Humphrey. The body will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death, he said.

Although everyone believes and agrees it’s been much longer, records just don’t accurately pinpoint the date of her arrival. Ms. Emmabell is quite the feature character with her desk just outside Sheriff Ken Furlong’s office.

There are two suspects, both wearing black masks. One was described as 5 foot 5-inches with blue eyes and a tattoo across the neck.

Care Flight ordered after vehicle hits pedestrian on Hot Springs Road
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 09/17/2015 - 1:55pmUPDATE 9PM: A 71-year-old man died Thursday night after he was struck by a pickup earlier in the afternoon, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
At approximately 2:50 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at 101 Hot Springs Road in North Carson City. Although the pedestrian had been reported trapped under the vehicle, by the time officers arrived, he had been removed and was conscious and speaking. The patient was treated at the scene by fire and paramedics and transported by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center. The pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk area but there is not an electronic signal.
At 7:49 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified that the pedestrian victim of the accident had died, said Furlong. His name has not yet been released.
The 68-year-old driver of the vehicle was cited at the scene for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Carson City remembers Sept. 11: World Trade Center I-Beam at Mills Park symbolic of strength

The service was held surrounding a I-beam memorial that was given to Carson City in 2010 by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Among the flowers placed on the beam was as an American flag presented to the Carson City Fire Department by Michael Manfredo. The flag was given to the Carson City man by a son of one of the 343 fighters killed at the World Trade Center that day.

The beam was given to Carson City by the Port Authority of New York to mark that fateful day. The public is invited.
Carson City IHOP shooting victims, survivors remembered in memorial run

Four years ago Sunday, Nevada Guardsmen Lt. Col. Heath Kelly, 35, Master Sgt. Christian Riege, 38, Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney, 31, and civilian Florence Donovan-Gunderson, 67, of South Lake Tahoe, were killed in the shooting rampage, in which the mentally ill gunman took his own life. Two other soldiers and seven patrons suffered injuries.

Ronald Bonds was arrested at 6:40 p.m. on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after officers were called to the motel in the 1400 block of North Carson Street.
Carson City deputies diffuse tense overnight situation at Mayflower Way residence
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 08/21/2015 - 1:57pmCarson City sheriff’s deputies were called to a Mayflower Way home late Thursday after a domestic disturbance call involving an intoxicated man who allegedly threw a bread maker at his girlfriend and kicked a roommate’s cat.
What made matters tense was the reporting witnesses told dispatch and officers that the man had guns in the home and they were concerned he would use them.

Thousands mourn slain Carson City sheriff’s deputy Carl Howell at funeral service
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 08/20/2015 - 5:09pmRENO, Nev. — Carson City Sheriff’s Office Deputy Carl Howell was remembered for his heroism and being a “true warrior” by those who knew him best as they shared their memories among thousands of mourners who gathered for a funeral service Thursday at Reno Events Center.
Howell, 35, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 in the line of duty responding to a domestic violence call at an East Carson City home. He was married to wife Rachel and is a father of four children. He was a nine year veteran of the Carson City Sheriff's Office having started serving in March 2006.
