Runners and walkers gathered at IHOP in Carson City early Tuesday morning to commemorate the victims of the IHOP mass shooting that happened five years ago today in Carson City.

On Sept. 6, 2011, Nevada Guardsmen Lt. Col. Heath Kelly, 35, Master Sgt. Christian Riege, 38, Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney, 31, and civilian Florence Donovan-Gunderson, 67, of South Lake Tahoe, were killed in the shooting rampage, in which a mentally ill gunman took his own life. Two other soldiers and seven patrons were injured.

Nevada Guard Soldiers and Airmen from Carson City to Kuwait will participate in a memorial walk/run this Tuesday, Sept. 6, to commemorate the victims of the IHOP shooting that occurred five years ago in Carson City.

UPDATE 4:15PM From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: The Carson City Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office responded to two arson-related fires at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum over the weekend. The first fire was reported on Sunday morning at approximately 2:34 a.m., damaging primarily the east side of the structure. On Monday morning at approximately 4:29 a.m., another fire was reported, this time the origin site was located on the south side of the building. The two incidents have resulted in moderate damage to the building.

UPDATE 9AM: Carson City School District Superintendent Richard Stokes offered condolences on behalf of Carson High School to family members after it was learned a 16-year-old CHS male student was killed in a rollover crash in Goni Canyon early this morning. An adult also died in the accident. The names of the victims have not been released.

The fire has quieted down since it became active earlier this afternoon, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch. So far around 200 acres have burned. UPDATE 4:05PM: Carson City Fire Department reports that evacuations have been lifted for the Shooting Fire in the Carson Colony area west of Curry Street in southwest Carson City. The fire is at around 200 acres in size and is burning away from structure, according to Stacey Belt, public information officer for Carson City Fire Department. No structures were burned however a fence was destroyed. No injuries have been reported.

UPDATE: 3:10PM: The Shooting Fire is now at around 100 acres, and no structures have been damaged or destroyed, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. As of around 3 p.m. the fire was moving away from the threatened neighborhoods along the Carson Colony area west of Curry Street. No injuries have been reported. The air attack on the fire continues.
