Carson City Sheriff's Office arrests: Woman jailed for DUI, hits two vehicles and flees

A 53-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 7:01 p.m. in the area of Sweetwater and Fairview Drive on suspicion of DUI drugs and two counts hit and run of occupied vehicles, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched after the woman allegedly hit another vehicle in the area of Sherman and College Parkway and fled the scene. The woman also backed into a truck that was behind her at a light at College Parkway and Highway 50 East and fled the scene.

Officers stopped the woman. She became uncooperative, slurring her words and had a strong odor of alcohol. She would not step out of the vehicle and was assisted out. Deputies located a prescription bottle of Hydrocodone in her vehicle and she was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Bail: $2,411.

— A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 6:40 p.m. in the 900 block of East Long Street on misdemeanor charges of DUI, no proof of insurance, open container and littering. The man was stopped after an officer observed the man throw a blue can out the driver’s side window while driving in the area of Roop and Stewart streets.

The man admitted to drinking four beers, two as he was driving from work and two more at a barber shop on Winnie Lane. He agreed to field sobriety tests and stated he takes prescribed anti-anxiety medication and took one an hour prior. He provided a preliminary breath test with .148. Bail: $2,703.

A 33-year-old transient, Jerett Lee McAlister, was arrested Friday, 1:34 a.m. in the 3600 block of Goni Road on multiple warrants. He faces warrant charges of principal to theft, a felony, gross misdemeanor unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and misdemeanor contempt of court and violation of pre-trial supervision. Bail: $9,500.

— A 47-year-old transient was arrested Friday, 8:56 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on suspicion of petit larceny. According to the arrest report, the man attempted to steal a DVD and other merchandise from Walmart. He proceeded to the checkout and paid for deli chicken but made no attempt of paying for the concealed merchandise. The man confessed to the theft and said it was “stupid,” the arrest report states. Bail: $352.

— A 63-year-old transient was arrested Friday, 2:04 a.m. in the area of Fall and Adams streets on misdemeanor suspicion of violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $1,000.

— A 76-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 7 a.m. in the area of Old Clear Creek Road on suspicion of petit larceny. Bail: $352.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of parole and probation, failure to appear warrant out of Douglas County and misdemeanor petit larceny. The man attempted to steal $98.76 in merchandise from Walmart. He has a no bail hold for the warrant and probation violation. Bail for the alleged theft: $637.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 5:15 pm. in the 3200 block of Market Street on suspicion of petit larceny and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. The man allegedly walked around Walmart eating chicken and leaving empty containers. Bail: $852.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 7:57 p.m. in the 2000 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of second offense DUI and violation of a suspended sentence, both misdemeanor offenses. According to the arrest report, the woman left the scene of an incident officers were investigating. Officers were told the woman was under the influence.

A traffic stop was made and the woman had alcohol on her breath. An officer asked her if she had been drinking and she replied she had three shots of vodka. She completed field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. At jail she had breath tests of .135 and .140. She had a previous DUI conviction in 2014. Bail: $3,637.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:20 p.m. in the 400 block of West Winnie Lane on a misdemeanor warrant for domestic battery. Bail: $3,000.

On the morning of Saturday, May 11, volunteers will fan out across the Truckee River watershed to collect and test water samples from creeks, streams, smaller lakes, and Lake Tahoe itself to take a “snapshot” of water quality at a single moment in time for this important source of drinking water and outdoor recreation.
