Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Friday afternoon to two vehicle crashes that happened within minutes of each other at Stewart and William streets and at Roop and Mallory streets.

UPDATE 4:08PM: Forward progress of the fire Friday afternoon off of Jacks Valley Road was stopped with around 2 acres that burned, said East Fork Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Larry Goss. The fire was on tribal property. The cause is under investigation. No structures were damaged.

Carson City Fire Department and East Fork Fire Protection responded Friday afternoon to a brush fire burning on Jacks Valley Road.

Despite smoke-filled skies from regional wildfires, the 2018 Carson City National Night Out held Tuesday night at Mills Park generated a crowd of several thousand and likely matched last year's record crowd, organizers said.

UPDATE 3:12PM: Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon reports the fire at the Carson City landfill Tuesday afternoon continues to put out a lot of smoke but is no longer spreading. The fire is burning dump-related material, he said and there's not a threat to the public. Some engines have already been released from the scene.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Tuesday afternoon to the area of the landfill off of Flint Road for a large fire initially reported to be a brush fire.

The call came into dispatch at around 2 p.m., reporting a heavy amount of black smoke coming from a construction area near the landfill.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives have determined that the Sunday afternoon report of a shooting in Carson City at the I-580 and College Parkway exit was falsely reported by the victim, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

UPDATE: 8:50PM: Incident command at the fire reports the initial flames from the RV trailer have been knocked down. Firefighters on scene are mopping up the area.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is on scene of a two-vehicle accident on the Interstate 580 side of Spooner Junction interchange in the westbound lanes.

Two men were arrested early Friday morning for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and other charges, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team deputy said.

The fire appears to be burning partly on BLM and partly on Carson City land, incident command reported.

UPDATE 3:56PM: According to a battalion chief on scene, forward progress of the fire has stopped, with firefighters having it surrounded. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Douglas County fire crews were called Wednesday afternoon to a brush fire in the Jacks Valley Road area. Carson City fire crews were also called as mutual aid to the fire.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Tuesday morning to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle rider.

UPDATE: 10:30PM: No flames were found in the house on Monte Rosa Drive Sunday night, but firefighters did find the smoke originated from a furnace fan motor, said Carson City Fire Department Captain Tom Raw, the incident commander.
There were no injuries reported.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to a vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in the area of Camille and Molly streets.

UPDATE: 11:14AM: The vegetation fire Wednesday morning in the 2200 block of Idaho Street was started by a downed NV Energy power line, according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief.
