As Campaign Momentum Increases, Republican Chris Forbush Files Declaration of Candidacy for State Assembly

Carson City – Amid increased campaign momentum, Carson City resident Chris Forbush officially declared his candidacy for Assembly District 40 on March 18th.

Since being the first candidate to announce his bid for the Assembly seat back in January, Forbush has been building a strong organization prepared to reach every Republican voter in the District in person before the Republican Primary on June 14th.

Al Kramer files for Assembly District 40

We cannot tax our way to prosperity.
Nevada needs to attract employers with good jobs. The State's business environment needs to be stable with future changes foreseeable.

That means they need to know that lawmakers will not raise taxes on them as soon as they begin to make a profit. The Commerce Tax passed during the last session moves the State in the wrong direction. If we want our children and grand children to live in the area, there must be jobs. We can't get attract the employers we need if we keep increasing taxes.

Assemblyman PK O’Neill files for re-election in Assembly District 40

CARSON CITY, Nev. – Assemblyman PK O’Neill filed today for re-election to his Assembly District 40 seat, encompassing Carson City and parts of southern Washoe County east of Highway 395.

“I filed because I believe that the Capital District deserves effective representation in the Nevada Assembly,” the Carson City Republican said. “When I originally filed, I pledged to listen to everyone in Assembly District 40, to consider their views and all available information, and to apply my own principles in voting for legislation. I believe that my actions are in accord with the majority of my constituents.”

Carson City green zone charter adopted

Members of a community advisory panel met Wednesday to adopt a local charter for the state of Nevada's Green Zone Initiative, a statewide effort to bring veteran service providers and other community stakeholders together in a pooling of resources that would make access easier for the state's veteran population.

The panel approved making Carson City one of 10 community green zone councils across the state, calling its local initiative the Carson City Area Veterans Community Council (CCAVCC).

Carson City voters to see state and local seats up for election

The presidential race notwithstanding, there are several statewide and local elected offices that are going to be put to the vote in 2016, according to Aubrey Rowlatt, Chief Deputy of Elections with the Carson City Clerk’s Office.

The most notable of the statewide races is the United States Senate seat being vacated by incumbent Harry Reid at the end of this year.

Both the Democrat and Republican parties have already posted leading candidates for this seat.

Kramer declares candidacy for State Assembly District 40 as a Republican

Al Kramer, former Carson City Treasurer, has announced he will run for Assembly District 40, which includes Carson City and a portion of South East Washoe County.

Kramer was the elected treasurer for Carson City from 1995 through 2015. Those who know him from his service as City Treasurer will acknowledge his efforts to go the extra mile in providing service to the citizens of Carson, and the trust that evolved because of this professional service. This past year he served as the Investment Deputy for the State Treasurer.

Services Monday for Carson City business leader, Assemblyman Pete Livermore

Funeral services for Nevada Assemblyman Pete Livermore of Carson City will be Monday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m., at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Livermore died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

I Am Now Afraid of PK's Puffery

I recently received an overly large mailer from PK O'Neill, a candidate for Assembly District 40. What he says is disturbing. He pontificates without solutions. He seems more concerned with cliches than real issues.

Longtime Carson City businessman, elected leader Pete Livermore dies

Pete Livermore, a longtime Carson City elected leader and business owner, died Monday at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

Livermore was a Nevada Assemblyman who decided this year that he would not seek re-election. He began in the Assembly District 40 on Feb. 7 2011. Before that, Livermore was a member of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, 1998-2010; was Mayor pro Tem, Carson City, 2004-2006.

Nevada ballot issues featured at tonight's first League of Women Voters election forum

Monday night will be the first of a series of election forums hosted by The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, Sierra Nevada Forums and American Association of University Women. A candidates forum will be held Thursday.

For the first forum, ballot issues will be presented. Ballot issues will be addressed by presenters stating the positive and the negative for each item. Issues to be covered include the Mining Tax and Education Initiative, also known as the Margins Tax, and the Question 1 Appellate Court issue.

Carson City voters take to the polls

Today is Primary Day in Carson City and it is also Carson City Clerk-Recorder Alan Glover's birthday.

The 65-year-old elections chief, former five-term Nevada Assemblyman and later a Nevada State Senator before resigning when he was appointed Carson City Recorder in 1985, noted this is not only his last primary he will oversee, as he is retiring this year, but he's now got his "Medicare card and everything."
