Carson City voters take to the polls
Today is Primary Day in Carson City and it is also Carson City Clerk-Recorder Alan Glover's birthday.
The 65-year-old elections chief, former five-term Nevada Assemblyman and later a Nevada State Senator before resigning when he was appointed Carson City Recorder in 1985, noted this is not only his last primary he will oversee, as he is retiring this year, but he's now got his "Medicare card and everything."
Polls at the Carson City Community Center will close at 7 p.m. Go here for early Carson City voting numbers. Carson Now will post the election results as soon as they become available. Statewide results can be found here.
Glover said Carson City results should be squared away by 8 p.m., with early voting results being made available after 7 p.m.
As of 1:30 today, 14,066 voters had passed the voting lines, with 23.39 percent of the electorate voting thus far between early voting and today's voting.
Of the Tuesday turnout, again as of 1:30 p.m, 58 percent of Carson City registered Republicans had turned out, 29.4 percent Democrats and 12.7 non-partisan.
In the Carson City primary voters are deciding races for sheriff (there are four candidates) Assembly District 40 and Senate District 16. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
