There will be a public military funeral for 13 unclaimed Nevada veterans on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, 2 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Reno Police Department and area agencies responded Tuesday night to an active shooter situation at the Montage apartments located 255 N Sierra Street in downtown Reno.

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Authorities say a person of interest in the Oct. 3 homicide at Hard Rock Casino at Lake Tahoe in Stateline was arrested in Sparks last week, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

A traffic stop for failing to use a turn signal on North Carson Street early Monday morning resulted in the arrest of a man wanted in Montana for suspicion of three counts sexual assault, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

“Our hearts ache for all the families and individuals involved in the car accident in Kings Canyon. We learned yesterday from law enforcement that one of our students passed away. Throughout the day today, the administration at Carson High School has provided and will continue to provide, as needed this week, grief counseling and support for students and staff. As more is learned about a memorial service, we will pass that information along.”

Family members confirmed via social media Sunday that 16-year-old Carson High School student Timothy Jones, one of seven students involved in a Nov. 9 crash on Kings Canyon, has died.

The Nevada Highway Patrol will be Joining Forces looking for drivers and other occupants in vehicles who are not wearing their seatbelts and, or children who are not properly secured in car or booster seats. A 35-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony home invasion after allegedly breaking into a home and helping himself to food in the kitchen, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
