Carson City arrests: Traffic stop leads to felony warrant arrest for sexual assault

A traffic stop for failing to use a turn signal on North Carson Street early Monday morning resulted in the arrest of a man wanted in Montana for suspicion of three counts sexual assault, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Christopher James Bostic, 43, was taken into custody at 4:09 a.m. on the extraditable warrant issued April 27, 2017 out of Yellowstone County, Montana. Bail: $40,000.

In other arrests:
— A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Sunday for felony suspicion of preventing a victim from calling 911, gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Anthony Carlos Morales was taken into custody at 1:03 a.m. in the area of North Carson and Bath streets.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a Yale Drive residence for a report of domestic battery. They met with the victim who said she and the suspect got into an argument, that it became physical and that he pushed her to the ground, climbed on top of her and covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming.

The victim stated the man took her cell phone by twisting it out of her hand so she could not call 911, according to the arrest report.

The victim further stated the man prevented her from leaving the residence by blocking her path to the front door. When she attempted to leave the man would push her down, according to the arrest report. The victim said she went and locked herself in a bathroom for approximately 30 to 40 minutes, according to the arrest report.

The victim had bruising to her right arm, face and the front and back of her neck. Deputies located the man and made a traffic stop. The suspect told deputies that the victim pushed him and he pushed her back. Bail: $10,911.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man, Pierce John Horseman, was arrested Saturday, 6 a.m. in the area of the Fifth Street overpass for a felony probation violation warrant issued Aug. 23, 2017 out of Carson City Juvenile Detention. He was held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 57-year-old Carson City woman, Rebecca Star Savage, was arrested Saturday, 9:55 a.m. in the 3400 block of Highway 50 East for felony suspicion of a controlled substance, misdemeanor DUI and a stop sign violation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The deputy observed a strong odor of marijuana coming from her person. The deputy asked her how much she had smoked. The woman replied three hits that morning and advised she also took a prescription drug, Zoloft, the arrest report states.

She was asked to submit to field sobriety tests and showed impairment on the tests. The deputy determined it was unsafe for the woman to operate a vehicle and she was taken into custody. In her purse deputies located two Hydrocodone pills. There was no container or prescription with the medication, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,749.

— A 47-year-old Carson City man, Michael Lee Douglas, was arrested Saturday, 4:51 p.m. in the area of East William and North Stewart Street for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor tail lamp violation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have functioning brake lights. The arrest report states the vehicle was in general disarray and much of the interior panel, including doors, glove compartment, steering column and middle console area were missing.

The man, who displayed nervous behavior and shaky hands, was asked where he was traveling from, The man stated the name of a motel.

The deputy noted in the report the motel is a known drug use and purchasing area. A canine was deployed for an open air exterior sniff for drugs. The man refused to consent to a search inside the vehicle, becoming agitated and uncooperative, the arrest report states. The canine alerted positive for drugs in the vehicle.

Inside deputies found a white Aleve bottle with a false bottom that had methamphetamine inside. The man spontaneously uttered he got it from a friend and paid $20 for it, the arrest report states. He was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,572.

— A 26-year-old inmate at Carson City Jail was booked on a misdemeanor charge of violation of a court order. According to the arrest report, the inmate had been using other inmate’s phone systems to contact the victim in a domestic battery case. Bail: $1,137.

— A transient was arrested Saturday, 8:18 p.m. in the 400 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Nov. 21, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man, Zachary Leo Christensen, was arrested Saturday, 8:01 p.m. in the area of Long and Marian streets for felony suspicion possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor DUI, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area after multiple callers reported a vehicle was driving erratically southbound on I-580. The witness said the driver failed to maintain lanes and nearly stuck stationary objects.

An NHP trooper and a sheriff’s deputy made the traffic stop at Long and Marian. The driver showed signs of impairment during the traffic stop, nearly striking the sidewalk and then failing to put the vehicle in park, putting the vehicle in reverse.

The driver was disoriented, non-responsive to conversation or instructions and displayed lethargic behavior, the arrest report states.

During standardized field sobriety tests he denied any medical issues, taking prescription medication or using controlled substances. He showed signs of impairment in the field sobriety tests. He gave a breath sample of .000 on the breath tests. He was arrested for suspicion of drug impairment. At booking he originally stated he wanted a warrant for a blood draw and stated he didn’t think a judge would answer the phone. He was informed by a deputy that a judge typically answers the phone. He then consented to a blood draw. Bail: $3,637.

— A South Lake Tahoe woman and an inmate in Carson City Jail was booked Saturday, 10:30 p.m. on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Aug. 3, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
