Carson City sheriff's weekend arrests: Man tasered after vehicle, foot chase
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 01/18/2015 - 2:55pmA 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday in the area of Robinson and Valley streets on suspicion of felony eluding after a vehicle and foot pursuit with officers, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Randy Paul Warstler also faces five misdemeanor charges including obstructing an officer, driving with a revoked license, suspended registration, having no proof on insurance and violation of a suspended sentence. He was arrested at 3:52 a.m.

Nevada law states that “the driver of a vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway.”

Arrest made in stabbing overnight at Carson City bar

Maxwell Thomas Scott Simon, 32, faces a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon and is on $30,000 bail, after an altercation at the Whiskey Tavern on Highway 50 East in Carson City, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

He is being held on $30,000 bail on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon. The incident happened at the Whiskey Tavern in the 3400 block of Highway 50 East shortly after midnight.
The male victim was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno where he was treated and released, a Carson City sheriff's detective said.

UPDATE: A suspect in the early morning stabbing at a bar on Highway 50 East was taken into custody at 12:51 a.m. He was located at a Moundhouse brothel. As of 2 a.m. the victim, who was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno via Careflight, was said to have non-life threatening injuries, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Lt. Brian Humphrey.

A man was stabbed early Friday morning at Whiskey Tavern in the 3400 block of Highway 50 East. The incident happened shortly after midnight and the suspect is at large, according to Carson City sheriff's deputies on scene.

According to the arrest report, an officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Highway 50 East and Lompa Lane for a rear license plate light not working. The deputy made contact with the driver, Edward William Tucker, who presented a Nevada driver’s license.

On Wednesday a select number of people were allowed to see what is ultimately coming to Carson City. While a firm date has not been set, an opening is forthcoming within the coming weeks, perhaps even days.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man arrested Sunday on suspicion of child abuse
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 01/13/2015 - 11:10amA 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 10:21 p.m. on felony suspicion of child abuse. The name of the suspect is being withheld because of the relationship with the juvenile he allegedly abused.
The man is being held on $40,000 bail. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the 1500 block of Firebox Drive in reference to a child abuse report. Officers met with the alleged juvenile victim and a former step mother.
Reno pet store to host inaugural adoption event with Nevada Humane Society

Pets R Us, a retail pet store located in the Meadowood Mall, will be hosting its first ever adoption event this Friday, January 16 from 12 Noon to 5pm. This event is the first of its kind since the business made the decision to end the sale of puppies in October.
Assemblyman O'Neill hosts Common Core curriculum forum Tuesday in Carson City

Citizens for Sound Academic Standards welcomes the public to participate in the program which it says it will present both sides of the issue. The Common Core State Standards Initiative is an educational initiative in the United States that details what K-12 students should know in English language arts and mathematics at the end of each grade.

A 27-year-old Carson City man, Bradley Paul Steelmon, was arrested Friday, 2:20 p.m. in the area of 20 College Parkway on a felony warrant, insurance fraud, issued June 9, 2014 out of Tahoe Township Court.

There will be restricted lanes on East Fifth Street between Linda Kay Court and Parkland Avenue from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Two-way traffic will be maintained. Please use caution.
Two-month old Infant dies, father located in Sacramento and taken into custody
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 01/10/2015 - 11:29amA two-month old infant girl was taken off of life support at 12:48 a.m. Saturday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The agency is investigating a child abuse case involving a suspect, Trent Getty, the father of the girl, who was wanted by Douglas County investigators, and found in Sacramento, Calif., at a Greyhound Bus depo. He was taken into custody by the Sacramento Police Department, said Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Pat Brooks.

Carson City sheriff's arrest log for Friday: bicyclist jailed for paraphernalia possession
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 01/09/2015 - 10:25amAn 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:04 p.m. in the 1800 block of East Long Street on two counts misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to have a white head light on a bicycle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, an officer stopped the bicyclist for not having a head lamp after he was observed crossing Highway 50 East in front of a casino.
Doug 'Mac the Naw' Busey: Winter fishing begins around the region

Last Monday, my friend Jerry Dow from Carson City joined me for some ice fishing at Red Lake. We arrived about 10am to a cleared parking area behind the dam. There was approximately a foot of snow on the dam, which makes it much easier to pull your sled on.
