Lake Tahoe Brewing Co., in downtown Carson City to open soon
Carson City's newest downtown brewery and restaurant, Lake Tahoe Brewing Co., is set to open soon. After a huge remodel, the Hop and Mae Adams restaurant site will open under the direction of owner and founder Michael Candelario.
On Wednesday a select number of people were allowed to see what is ultimately coming to Carson City. While a firm date has not been set, an opening is forthcoming within the coming weeks, perhaps even days.
Candelario has previous experience in restaurant ownership. He has studied beer making in Germany and Belgium. The building dates back to 1880. Candelario has partnered with the Adams Foundation to make some significant improvements to the 7,000-square-foot bar and restaurant.
The building was separated from the rear of the property with a wall. The Adams Foundation plans to lease out the rear of the building, which housed the outdoor beer garden and patio to a different lessee.
Watershed Systems is the primary contractor on the job with Mike Baxter leading the carpentry work. Added to the front of the building are all new surfaces including brick and old galvanized steel siding from the Stewart Indian Colony.
The brewery has purchased a wood burning pizza oven by the Italian Stove manufacturer Mugaini. The brewery will specialize in dish pizza cooked in the wood fired oven. The Lake Tahoe Brewing Co., will soon open a second location in Truckee, Calif. They plan to sell 12 different beers that they brew in the Carson Street building. Elijah Pasciak and Brian Bourgmeyer are the two men in charge of brewing the beer at the Lake Tahoe Brewery. They both have extensive experience in gourmet and culinary preparation.
