Carson City woman jailed for suspicion of battery, spits and kicks at deputies

A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday for two counts suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner and misdemeanor battery after allegedly fighting at a casino and then spitting and kicking Carson City deputies after she was arrested.

Amanda Lynn Conway was arrested at 11:45 p.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street.

Deputies arrested the woman after she had allegedly punched a female in the back of the head and in the face at a casino. The victim had a swollen lip on the right side of her face and was evaluated by paramedics. The incident was witnessed by others who filled out statements.

The suspect was put in the rear of a patrol car. When a deputy attempted to ask for the woman’s name she replied “f**k you” and spit in the deputy’s face, the arrest report states.

She was transported to jail. As a deputy attempted to escort her out of the back of the patrol vehicle she allegedly kicked a jail deputy on the top of his head, the arrest report states. She faces the misdemeanor and two felony battery charges. Bail: $41,411.

In other arrests:
— A 51-year-old Carson City man arrested Friday for a misdemeanor warrant had a felony charge of possession of stolen property added after a search of his property led to a stolen Nissan truck.

Robert Weaver was arrested at 9 a.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Boeing Way for the misdemeanor warrant. A family member gave a deputy permission to search the property for people, drugs or stolen property. The deputy went into the back lot of the property and located approximately 20 vehicles that were in pieces and parted out, the arrest report states.

The deputy observed a Nissan truck that was much newer and in better condition. A records check of the vehicle revealed the Nissan was reported stolen out of Reno.

Weaver said a friend brought him the vehicle and admitted he knew the vehicle was stolen two days prior and told his friend to get the stolen vehicle off the property.

He faces a felony charge of possession of stolen property and misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $28,000.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man, Matthew Uriah Haines, was arrested Friday, 12:11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for felony suspicion of battery causing substantial bodily harm and misdemeanor battery. According to the arrest report, two employees were allegedly assaulted by Haines, an ex-employee. One of the victims suffered a shattered nose that required surgery, the arrest report states.

The other victim advised he too was struck multiple times in the face by the suspect. The injuries were not serious but he did wish to pursue charges. Bail: $11,274.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 1:45 a.m. in the area of Lone Mountain and Winnie Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions. According to the arrest report, the a traffic stop after a deputy observed a vehicle did not have a functioning brake light. Deputies spoke with the driver and the passenger who was on alternative sentencing with a condition not to drink alcohol. He provided a preliminary breath test of .133 and was arrested. Bail: $3,000.

— A 27-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested Friday, 3:22 p.m. in the area of Northridge and Carriage Crest for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Nov. 20, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 3:29 p.m. in the 300 block of East Winnie Lane for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued Nov. 21, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.

In collaboration with Chartwells, the Carson City School District foodservice partner, Culinary Arts students from Ms. Tammy Borreman’s class at Carson Middle School competed in a “Discovery Kitchen Cook Off.” Similar to a mini version of the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the timed cooking competition featured teams of three students who prepared succulent dishes for a judging panel.

Six local bowlers were inducted in the third class of the Carson Country Bowling Association Hall of Fame at their annual meeting on Saturday, April 27, at HomeGrown Bowl. Carson Country is the local association of the U.S. Bowling Congress.

Camp GOTR (Girls on the Run) is coming to Carson City for the second year in a row! Camp GOTR will be a week-long, half-day summer camp from 8 AM- 12 PM at the Carson City Community Center the week of August 5th- August 9th.

Girls on the Run Sierras is a character-building program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade operating in the Reno-Tahoe area.

A number of new Junior Park Rangers received their badges as they were sworn in as part of the annual Junior Park Rangers Day in Carson City.
