Carson City man faces charges after Blockbuster break-in

An unemployed Carson City man faces a felony burglary charge after breaking into Blockbuster Video on East Williams Street last week and taking games and two consoles.

Ryne Mitchell Snoddy, 18, also faces a gross misdemeanor property destruction charge. Bail was set at $25,000.

According to the arrest report, officers saw Snoddy climbing out of a broken window in front of the store after responding to an intrusion alarm call at about 1 a.m. on Nov. 24.
Dressed in a camouflage jacket and blue jeans, Snoddy also had a bandana on his face and was wearing a blue cap. Officers saw him carrying a box that contained several video games for X-Box and PlayStation consoles. Officers ordered him to lay on the ground and the man complied, the arrest report stated.

A manager arrived at the store and told authorities two game consoles — an X-Box 360 and a PlayStation 3 — were also missing from the store. Snoddy was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with the arresting officer. He then told the officer the consoles were located near a Dumpster at the rear of the store. The missing items were recovered.

Deputies reviewed surveillance of the store's interior which showed Snoddy taking several of the games, the arrest report concluded.

In other police matters:

— Two Carson City men face numerous misdemeanor charges after authorities found weapons and drugs inside a East Fifth Street apartment during a search on Friday.

Officers attempted to stop one of the men driving, after a warrant arrest came back on the man's Cadillac. As an officer put on his lights and siren for a stop, then man got out of his car and walked into an apartment, according to the arrest report.

Officers went to the apartment and knocked on the door. The door opened and a smell of fresh marijuana wafted from the apartment. And then a man, believed to be a gang member, kicked the door closed in the officers faces. A search warrant was requested and permission was granted.

The 36-year-old man who had run from deputies and was found inside the apartment was detained and taken to jail on obstruction, a warrant and traffic charges.

A search of the apartment turned up several firearms, drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to the arrest report. One of the firearms, a shot gun, was loaded.

Meanwhile, the man who kicked the door closed acknowledged that he had a 7-year-old daughter inside the apartment. The man 26-year-old man asked why he was being arrested and the officer explained that he had a daughter in the apartment with weapons, gang members, drugs and paraphernalia and that qualifies as child endangerment. The man replied: "Yes, I know."

While driving to jail the man thanked the arresting officer, said he was glad he was arrested because he "wanted to stop smoking weed anyway." He also informed deputies once at the jail that he needs to stop hanging out with gang members.

"I'm actually ashamed to be in jail," the man told deputies. "I usually think jail is no big deal but this time I feel like a piece of s***," according to the arrest report.

Charges include child endangerment, a gross misdemeanor; obstructing officers, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

— A Carson City man was arrested Saturday and faces a misdemeanor obstruction charge during a domestic dispute call in the 1900 block of Beverly Street on Saturday.

A 911 call was made from the home, and officers arrived to find the 36-year-old man in a garage starting his motorcycle. The arresting officer asked the man what happened and the man replied "F*** you, I don't need to talk to you," according to the arrest report.

A woman and a young child walked out of the home and were upset and crying, according to the arrest report. Officers, suspecting there was a domestic battery or other crime, told the man to shut off his motorcycle and talk to officers, the arrest report stated. The man replied: "I told you to F*** off," according to the arrest report. A deputy then turned off the motorcycle and the man took an aggressive stance and formed fists. The officer then ordered the man to place his hands behind his back, which he refused.

An officer attempted to detain the man, who struggled with deputies. An officer then warned the man that he would be tasered if he didn't comply and place his arms behind his back. The man complied and was put into cuffs and taken to jail. The man blew .130 PBT at the jail, according to the arrest report.
