Sunny and dry through Thanksgiving with winter storm possible by Sunday
Those traveling in California and Nevada for Thanksgiving are in for warm and dry conditions through Friday, followed by a weak system arriving Saturday, and a stronger system possible Sunday bringing snow to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra and maybe into Carson City, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecaster confidence is currently medium for a storm pushing into the West, but low regarding timing and storm details, which are likely to change through the week as we get closer to the weather event, forecasters say.
Current forecast models show the potential for travel impacts, especially throughout the Sierra, with snow levels possibly dropping below 5,500 feet, according to the weather service. That's good news for skiers looking to travel to the Lake Tahoe area for the first week of December.
For now the latest forecast discussion targets Sunday into Monday for the probability of rain and snow in the Sierra, with some snow possible into the lower elevations, according to the weather service.
