Carson City Planning Commission: Indoor go-cart track approved, building permit next step
A special use permit for an indoor go-cart track in North Carson City has been approved by the Carson City Planning Commission, Planning Manager Hope Sullivan said.
The next step for the applicant, she said, is to submit a tenant improvement application for a building permit, which the city has yet to receive.
“The permit center has not received any improvement application to-date,” said Carson City Chief Building Official Shawn Keating. “This would be the next step for the owners to move forward with the construction process after all zoning issues were resolved.”
Earlier this year, the city received an SUP application from Ken Rose of Battle Born Properties, LLC, owner of the building located at 3777 N. Carson Street next to Ben’s Fine Wines and Spirits, to operate an indoor electric go-cart track inside a more than 34,000 square foot facility.
According to the Community Development Report for September, the go-carts would be electric-powered, featuring rechargeable lithium batteries.
The indoor racing facility would also include a video game arcade, vending machines, picnic tables, storage lockers, pre-drive training room, waiting area, and restrooms, the report shows.
Proposed hours for the business are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Efforts to reach Rose for comment have been unsuccessful thus far. Multiple messages have been left, but not returned.
