Carson City’s Downtown Coin Club giving away turkeys for holidays
A few area residents will enjoy a turkey dinner over Thanksgiving and Christmas courtesy of donations by Downtown Coin Club, 111 W. Telegraph Street in downtown Carson City.
The first turkey giveaway will be this Friday, Nov. 18 at the Senior Center in Gardnerville, said Downtown Coin Owner and Club President Dan Wilson, just in time for Thanksgiving dinner.
Ten birds will be given away to needy residents of the Carson Valley. This donation is through that area’s Meals On Wheels program, Wilson said.
“We have had a great year and would like to pass on the good will,” he said. “Our goal is to have locals enjoy a Turkey dinner that they may not otherwise.”
A second turkey giveaway will occur closer to Christmas, Wilson said, when ten more birds will be given to needy residents of Carson City through the Dream Center, a local program that helps area military veterans in need.
