St. Peter’s Episcopal 150th anniversary celebrated, commemorative coin available Nov. 10
As the hymn proclaims "All are welcome in this place" and that includes those who attended the Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church building’s 150th anniversary celebration this summer that acknowledged the first service held in this historic church located at 314 N. Division St. in Carson City.
This iconic white church with its stained glass windows and 93-ft. steeple is located on the Blue Line historical walking tour at the corner of Telegraph and Division Streets in Carson City. The Parish has been conducting church services and providing community assistance to area residents continuously since August 9, 1868.
An 1860’s modeled service was celebrated in August with the Proclamation by our own City Official, Mayor Robert Crowell, that August 12 was proclaimed “St. Peter’s Day.”
The service included the original alter configuration, period clergy vestments, and 1792 book of liturgy. The Very Reverend Jeff Paul, St. Peter’s Rector officiated.
In commemoration of this 150th year of service event, St. Peter’s Vestry has commissioned the minting of a commemorative coin (first in series of events) for this event that will be available to purchase, in limited numbers, for those interested in owning a tangible memento of this event.
These coins will be available Saturday, Nov. 10 at St. Peter’s Annual Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
