Reno to London nonstop flights to begin in December 2015
Northern Nevada's first non-stop flight service between Reno and London’s Gatwick Airport will begin in December 2015, Reno-Tahoe International Airport officials announced Tuesday.
In partnership with Ski Lake Tahoe and the gaming community, the airport will offer twice-a-week service between Reno-Tahoe and London, England on Thomas Cook Airlines.
“This is amazing news for our ski community, gaming community and overall economic impact for the region,” said Airport President and CEO Marily Mora. “It also highlights that Reno-Tahoe International Airport is truly the Gateway to Lake Tahoe.”
This is the first ever non-stop scheduled service between Reno-Tahoe and Europe. And it is the second international air service announcement for the Reno-Tahoe International Airport in the past month. The airport announced non-stop service to Guadalajara, Mexico on Volaris Airlines beginning Dec. 16, 2014 and now London to Reno non-stop service next December.
Non-stop service to London, England represents an important partnership between the skiing and gaming community in Reno-Tahoe.
“Our ski resorts and hotel casinos have partnered to support this flight and bring our new European customers a one-of-a-kind skiing and nightlife experience in one of the most beautiful and entertaining places on earth,” said Mora.
The twice-weekly flight will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays and on an Airbus 330 and will run from Dec. 19, 2015 through April 9, 2016, adding lift for the winter ski season, airport officials say.
