Wildhorse Children's Theater presents Dr. Doolittle, Jr.
Antelopes will lope, ostriches will fan, kangaroos will do what kangaroos can, polar bears will wear top hats, leopards with spots will wear spats and hyenas will laugh as long as a long giraffe when Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents “Doctor Dolittle, Jr.”
The whimsical musical follows the adventures of a small-town doctor in Victorian England who uses his special gift of being able to talk with animals to learn more about the world. In this musical, Doctor Dolittle becomes the world’s greatest animal doctor by learning how to speak the thousands of different dialects of creatures.
This ability to connect and communicate sets him off on a fantastic life adventure. Similarly, through the common ‘language’ of this musical theater production, young actors, ages 5-18, with a wide range of interests and backgrounds are working as a team to create something special together.
Performances are Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7:00 p.m. and Nov. 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall. For tickets, or more information call 887-0438 or check out our website at www.wildhorsetheater.com
Come and talk to the animals!!! Wild Horse Children’s Theater and the Brewery Arts Center are proud to partner with Nevada Humane Society to bring a special “Talk to the Animals Day” prior to the Saturday and Sunday matinees of “Doctor Dolittle, Jr.”. Nevada Humane Society will have adoptable animals ready to meet you in the parking lot of the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall on Nov. 8 and 9 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Carol Scott, Executive Director of Wild Horse Children’s Theater stated, “Since the story of Doctor Dolittle is a musical about caring for and about animals, we felt collaborating with the Nevada Humane Society would be a hands-on fun and educational way to bring this message to the children and families who are attending the performances.” Young audience members and their families can meet with Doctor Dolittle and say hello to adorable dogs and cats awaiting loving homes. In addition, guests will learn about the various animals that come to the shelter and the programs that Nevada Humane Society offers the public.
Nevada Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and rescuing the abandoned, neglected and abused pets of Northern Nevada. NHS was incorporated in Reno in 1932, the first animal welfare organization in the state of Nevada. NHS is one of the few open admission, no-kill shelters in America and does it all thanks to generous donors—receiving no funds from other organizations, including the Humane Society of the United States. NHS saves over 10,000 animals each year, treats over 15,000 animals medically and takes in 90% of our community’s animals. Since 2007, NHS has saved over 70,000 lives and only continues to grow.
