Carson City firefighters knock down August Drive house fire; respond to several calls since noon
Carson City fire and ambulance were busy late Sunday morning and afternoon attending to three incidents, including a house fire, all happening within an hour of each other.
Firefighters responded late Sunday morning to a house fire in the 4000 block of August Drive. The fire started in the kitchen and may have went into the attic, said Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi. No one was home at the time and a fire investigator has been called to the scene.
At around noon, East Fork Fire and Paramedics district was called in a mutual aid assist for Carson City fire department with a traumatic injury call in which a man reportedly fell at his home on West Washington Street and suffered a head injury. Care Flight was called and took the man to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
Central Lyon County Fire District firefighters were called to assist Carson City Fire Department at around 12:15 Sunday afternoon at East Nye and College Parkway for a pickup that was on fire. The pickup was fully engulfed with firefighters arrived on scene. No one was injured.
Carson City fire and ambulance responded to two other emergency calls since noon that required taking people by ambulance, said Chief Giomi.
