Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Three busted in routine welfare check
Three people were taken into custody by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Friday morning at 10:58 p.m. following a welfare check by the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
According to the report, deputies assisted a Child Protective Services social worker, who had arrived at a residence in the 3000 block of Northgate Lane to check on a child.
Deputies were also on scene to serve a confirmed bench warrant on a 28 year-old Carson City man, the child's father, living at the residence.
Contact was made with the child's mother at the front door, the report said, but the 27 year-old woman was observed to evade questions concerning the whereabouts of the suspect, wanted on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge out of the Carson City Justice Court.
A male subject had appeared in the doorway of the residence, along with a second male subject observed inside.
The subjects were later identified and confirmed to not be the suspect wanted in the arrest warrant, the report said.
However, one of the subjects avoided law enforcement questions concerning the whereabouts of the wanted suspect and refused to answer. At one point, the 64 year-old Carson City man became agitated toward officers, the report said.
Both the woman and the man avoiding deputies' questions were advised that they were obstructing the investigation and subject to arrest. But both continued refusing to cooperate, the report said.
The warrant suspect was later located hiding under a vehicle inside the garage, the report said.
The suspect along with the man and woman obstructing officers were all placed in handcuffs and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking.
The woman, Melissa Elenor Mulder of Carson City, later had felony possession of controlled substance added to her initial arrest for misdemeanor obstruction, because a hypodermic needle containing a substance tested presumptive positive for heroin was found on her person.
Mulder's bail is set at $2,500. Bail for the man arrested with her for obstruction is $250. Bail for the warranted suspect is $3,000.
In other arrests:
— A 23 year-old Reno woman was arrested Friday afternoon at 4:29 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on misdemeanor petit larceny for shoplifting as well as for a pair of misdemeanor bench warrants, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
According to the report, a Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a business on report of a shoplifter caught by store security.
The loss prevention officer reported to law enforcement that the woman was observed to pass all points of payment.
When she was stopped, security found more than $78 of unpaid merchandise concealed underneath a blanket inside a baby carrier, the report said.
Upon identifying the suspect, the deputy performed a records check, which confirmed two outstanding misdemeanor traffic offense bench warrants: One issued out of Tonopah Township Justice Court and the other out of Washoe County Justice Court.
She was then handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $655.
