HELP NOW: Carson City area health professionals sorely needed for weekend clinic
A health services clinic through Remote Area Medical is happening now through Sunday in Carson City. Organizers said Friday that there is a shortage of health care professionals, including optometrists and any medical support doctors and nurses.
The clinic is being held at Carson High School. It is designed for children, families and the elderly who are without health care, dental health, and vision eye care. Hundreds are expected to participate during the three day free clinic.
Call 832-727-7491 to sign up to volunteer. The clinics are 6:00am to around 2:00pm so volunteers should arrive around 5:30am each day.
RAM is a non-profit organization providing free medical, dental and vision services to patients.
Turnout is expected to be hundred of patients each day of the event. Lines begin early in the morning on these days. Volunteers will begin passing out entry numbers to those inline at 3am with the clinic opening at 6am.
Services are provided on a first come first serve basis and include: vision testing, free eye glasses made on site, dental exams, filings and extractions, general medical consultations, diabetic screenings and education, PAP smears and more.
RAM is an international organization that travels the country and throughout the world providing free medical services with no qualifications. This event is for those in Northern Nevada who are uninsured or underinsured, with no eligibility requirements and no ID necessary.
