Carson City road report for the week includes Carson High homecoming parade details
Here's the Carson City road construction report for Monday Oct. 4 through Sunday Oct. 10.
Before we get into the list, a shout-out is in order to all the motorists out there who've kept their cool over the past few months. Bottlenecks and delays are never any fun. If anything, the local road projects, including the Roop Street quagmire, may have taught us to get up a little earlier and exercise some patience, which is a good thing. Mindfulness can never do a person wrong.
With that, here's what's lined up for this week:
Koontz Lane between Raglan Circle and Edmonds Drive remains closed through January because of the ongoing Nevada Department of Transportation freeway project. Meanwhile, the Roop Street widening project continues and is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The following impacts are expected this week:
— Roop Street is now open between William Street and Robinson Street. Please be aware that Washington Street is now a one way street westbound from Roop Street to just east of Walsh Street and the Library entrance.
— Corbett Street will be closed at Roop Street on Monday, October 4th. Local business traffic will be detoured via Molly Drive and Long Street.
— William Street will have intermittent lane closures at Roop Street on Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for westbound traffic.
— Long Street will be closed from Stewart Street to Marian Street. Traffic will be detoured via Stewart Street, Corbett Street, and Molly Drive.
— Lee Street and Beverly Street will be closed to through traffic at Roop Street . All Senior Center traffic should utilize Beverly Street from the east via Marian Avenue, Molly Drive, and Corbett Street.
— Roop Street is closed from William Street to Stewart Street through the completion of the project.
The Nevada Department of Transportation is working to add a third northbound lane on US 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive. Please use caution when driving in this area.
Because of water utility improvements, Hells Bells Road between Parkhill Drive and Marsh Road will be closed to through traffic (local traffic allowed) all week.
Snyder Avenue just east of Conte Drive will be reduced to one lane traffic with flaggers from Monday, Oct. 4, through Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for water main construction.
Finally, the Carson High Senators football team, undefeated so far and coming off a major victory over rival Douglas on Friday, will celebrate homecoming on Thursday with a parade from 6 to 7 p.m. in Carson City.
The parade will start at Fremont School and proceed north on Saliman Road to Carson High School. The Carson City Sheriff's Office will escort the parade and provide traffic control, but the two northbound lanes will be temporarily blocked. Also, there will be a short delay crossing Saliman Road at Fifth Street when the parade reaches that point. Click here for all homecoming details for the week.
Go Senators!
