Carson City deputies make arrests for DUI, domestic battery and drugs

A 51-year-old Reno woman was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI second, expired registration and open container, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
A deputy observed a vehicle with expired temporary plates. The officer observed the vehicle crossing over the white fog line with 75 percent of the vehicle over as it went southbound on North Roop, swerving in its lane and going over the white line, the report states.
The officer conducted the traffic stop on North Roop and East Musser and made contact with the driver, observing glossy red and watery eyes and an open container of alcohol, slurred and slowed speech and a strong odor of alcohol. The officer informed the woman why she was pulled over. She stated she knew she messed up and had just recently had a drink of wine and then later stated she had drank two cans of wine.
The deputy read the woman medical questions and determined she could perform standardized field sobriety tests. The woman showed signs of impairment and provided a preliminary breath test of .238. She was arrested. At jail she provided evidentiary breath tests of .222 and .209. She had a previous prior from Feb. 6, 2023. She was also booked for driving with expired registration and open container. Bail: $2,500.
In other arrests:
— A 42-year-old Yerington woman as arrested Sunday for suspicion of battery on a healthcare provider, a gross misdemeanor offense. The woman allegedly flung a water bottle at a Behavior Health Center nurse, hitting her in the face. The nurse wished to press charges. The woman admitted she flicked the water not knowing the direction she threw. Bail: $2,500.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of domestic battery. Deputies spoke with the suspect and victim, and learned from the victim the man threw a soiled towel at the woman's head, hitting her and that he had been throwing and breaking things around the residence. At one point, while she was on the couch, the man yelled at her, put his hands on her and as she attempted to get away, he put his hands on her legs, holding her down. She said she was injured when she pushed him off. She called 911 where the man went outside and turned over all their backyard furniture. Officers observed a scratch on the woman's leg.
A deputy spoke with the man who denied anything physical happened and denied he threw anything at the woman or held her down, the report states. He was booked for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
— A 46-year-old woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, mushrooms pills and mushrooms, ketamine and MDMA, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report. Jennifer Nicole Cruz, listed from Olympic Valley, Calif., was placed into custody following an investigation. She was also booked for possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.
— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the booking report, deputies were called for a report of domestic battery and met with the reporting party who waited outside their home. The officer could see the left side of the victim's mouth was bleeding. The woman stated her husband hit her in the mouth when she wouldn't move in the bed they shared, and that as she was in bed asleep, the man pushed her to move and told her to move and when she didn't he punched her once in the mouth. She also had cuts on the inside of her upper lip and stated her teeth felt loose, the report states.
Deputies entered the home and spoke with the man who was asleep. The man was asked if he knew why the deputy was there and he said it is because his wife called. The man was asked about injuries to the woman's face. He said he was asleep and didn't know how she was injured, saying she may have been outside and fell over a small fence onto the concrete. The officer observed the man had a small cut on his knuckle and dried blood. The cut was consistent with punching something.
Based on the statements and the cut on the man's hand, he was arrested. Bail: $3,137.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI, expired registration and basic speeding.
According to the booking report a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding. The officer observed the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and paced the vehicle going 40 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. The vehicle was stopped in the area of West Robinson and North Curry Street.
The deputy made are contact with the driver, and observed him to have red, watery eyes. The officer informed him why he was pulled over. The man stated he knew he was driving fast. He advised he had a drink prior. The man stepped out of the vehicle and the officer observed fluid on his sweatshirt. The man advised there was marijuana in the truck and that he last smoked that morning, the report states.
He agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on some of the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .143 and was arrested. He agreed to evidentiary breath tests, with results of .097 and .113. He was booked for suspicion of DUI, driving with expired registration and speeding. Bail: $1,137.
— A 26-year-old Carson City woman, McKena Cota, and Caitlin Josephine Knox, also 26, were arrested Sept. 28 for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cota was also booked for a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation. Cota's bail, $3,000; bail for Knox, $2,500.
— A 47-year-old Stagecoach man, Wyatt Whitten, was arrested Sept. 28 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamine) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.
— A 30-year-old Carson City man, Jose Plascencia Madrigal, was arrested Sept. 27 for suspicion of felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, open contain and failure to maintain lane. Bail: $2,500.
