Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Three arrested on felony heroin possession charges

Three people were jailed early Thursday on drug charges after heroin and paraphernalia were recovered during a traffic stop and subsequent search of the vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Booked into jail on felony heroin possession charges were Timothy Long, 26, and Angela Seaberry, 24, both of Fernley and Kenneth Waters, 61, of Santa Rosa, Calif. According to the arrest report, A deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for making a left turn without using a signal and not having a functioning license plate light.

The officer ran a background check and learned Waters had two misdemeanor warrants, one out of Reno Township and the other Dayton Township and that Long was on parole and probation with a curfew.

A K9 did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert. During a search of the vehicle the deputy found heroin, spoons, tooter straws that are commonly used to inhale drugs, needles and other paraphernalia. The three were arrested.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 6:49 p.m. in the 800 block of Fairview Drive on misdemeanor charges of obstruction, providing false statements and violation of a suspended sentence.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was called to the 800 block of Fairview for suspicious subjects in the area. Three people were sitting in a blue truck in front of a fitness center. They had been there for around 30 minutes and were not patrons.

The deputy made contact with the three, and two of the three provided identification. The 20-year-old said he didn’t have identification and gave the officer what turned out to be a fake name. He said he had a rough day, and that all he wanted to do was go to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription his dentist wrote.

The man produced scripts from the dentist office and the name on them was different than the name the man gave. He told the officer he was picking up the medication for his brother. The officer asked the man how he was going to pick up the prescription without identification. The man did not have an answer.

He was asked if he had any illegal drugs in the vehicle. He said he wasn’t sure because the truck belonged to his mother. He was asked for consent to search the vehicle. The man then told the officer there were hypodermic needles and said he was a heroin addict.

Dispatch ran the name of the man and it came back with an active arrest warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. The man then admitted he lied because he was afraid of going to jail. During the search officers found two hypodermic needles and several Q-tips. The man confirmed they were for heroin use. No drugs were found in the vehicle. The man was arrested for providing false statements and the active warrant.

At jail the man became emotion about his addiction and said he wanted to get clean but everyone he knew was involved in drugs and he could not get away from heroin for long, the arrest report states. The deputy encouraged the man to get help with his addiction and make a future for himself. He asked the deputy if he could contact him after he got out of jail for help. The deputy provided the man contact information. Bail: $3,412.

Every year throughout our region, pets are found dead in cars due to heat exhaustion, including those with windows cracked.

With outside temperatures often in the 90s and above, internal car temperatures can reach anywhere from 114 degrees after 10 minutes, to 140 degrees after an hour. Cracking a window often does nothing at all as rolling down the windows has been shown to have little effect on the temperature inside a car, according to the Humane Society of the U.S.
