NHP identifies Carson City man who died in Friday motorcycle accident
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver of the motorcycle who died at the scene of a three vehicle accident in Carson CIty on Friday night.
James Kevin Montez, 37, of Carson City was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an NHP press statement. The condition of two people, flown by air ambulance to Renown Medical Center, is reportedly that they suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The accident happened at around 10:05 p.m. NHP troopers were dispatched to the head-on collision involving two vehicles and a motorcycle north of the intersection of Clearview Drive in the southbound travel lanes near Eagle Station Lane.
The driver of a silver Mercury van, Kevin Ward Massey Jr., 18, from Carson City was traveling northbound on HIghway 395 with two other occupants when he entered the southbound travel lane striking a red Mitsubishi driven by Merry Susan Rillston, 66, of Livermore, Calif., according to the NHP.
The van continued northbound in the southbound travel lanes striking a red motorcycle driven by James Kevin Montez, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to NHP.
The southbound lanes of Highway 395 were closed for nearly four hours while emergency crews investigated the accident.
