Power outage shuts off traffic lights on South Carson
Update 6:30 — Traffic lights on South Carson from Koontz Lane to Old Clear Creek Road were out for a couple of hours this afternoon due to a power outage.
We have confirmed that power was restored to the area at about 6:15, and all traffic lights are working now.

Update 6:03 — We have two reports that the power is coming back on for some businesses near Topsy Lane.

Sheriff Kenny Furlong said that NV Energy has been having problems with a transformer, and is working to restore power.
Besides traffic lights, several businesses have been affected. Trader Joe's, Costco and Walmart were closed. Raley's was still open, with their cash registers running on auxiliary power, but they were closing and covering all their refrigerated sections to keep the food cool.
NV Energy said that 5,500 customers are affected.
The traffic signals at Koontz, Eagle Station, Clearview and Clear Creek are out. The lights at Fairview and Topsy Lane still work, though the light controlling traffic on Topsy between Walmark and Borders/Starbucks is out.
