Sunday, Sept. 11: Things to do around Carson City
One last chance awaits to enjoy the Reno Balloon Races or Virginia City’s annual Camel Races, so don’t miss out. A remembrance ceremony will take place at the World Trade Center I-Beam Memorial in Mills Park to honor those lost fifteen years ago. Grab the whole family and a picnic for the final ‘Concert on the Green’ in the Genoa Park. The Trey Stone Trio will entertain as weekend winds to a close.

- Great Reno Balloon Race at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, Reno (3:30am Gates Open; 5am Glow Show; 5:30am Dawn Patrol; 7am Mass Ascension Launch; 6am-8am Sign up to be Girl Scout/Girl Scout Scavenger Hunt; 4:30am-11am Shopping along Balloon Boulevard)
- Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring artists Anna Louise Dardin and Bob Hickox with Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-5pm)
- 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the World Trade Center Steel I Beam located at the eastern edge of Mills Park, near the entrance of the Marv Teixeira Pavilion (8:15am)
- Breakfast and Bowl at Carson Lanes (9am-12pm; breakfast and unlimited bowling until noon $13, $8 kids 12 and younger)
- CC BMX Racing at the Livermore (Edmonds) Sports Complex: 1555 Livermore Lane (signups 9am-10am; $10, must be USABMX member; new rider kits available)
- 57th Annual International Camel and Ostrich Races at the Virginia City Arena and Fairgrounds: 458 F Street, Virginia City (gates open 10am, races 12pm-2:30pm; $15-$50; First 100 kids get a camel ride for FREE - Courtesy of Dolan Auto Group)
- Edwards Motor Car Rides at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (10am-4pm; $4, $2 kids; museum admission $6, under 18 free)
