Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on suspicion of assault with deadly weapon

A 73-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly pointing a gun at a man after a dispute about dogs defecating on a lawn, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called at around 10:30 a.m. to the 600 block of John Street. Officers spoke with the victim who said the suspect, Joseph Allen Malone, confronted him as he was walking past the location with his dogs.

He said the man was upset and said the dogs had defecated on the lawn. He said the suspect pulled a revolver from a small green colored nylon bag and pointed it at his head from about six feet away, the arrest report states.

The victim said the suspect then went into a professional office building prior to officers arriving and exited the building without the nylon bag or the gun. Deputies searched the office inside the door and located the nylon bag with the revolver inside of it. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests: A 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 9:43 p.m. in the area of 20 College Parkway on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, deputies met the victim in the parking lot who explained the couple began to argue after the victim picked up their 4-month old child.

He said the woman attempted several times to grab and pull the child out of the man’s arms. Officers observed fresh scratch marks on his left forearm. The man said he put the baby down and grabbed the woman, bringing her arms to his chest. He said the woman then punched him in the face.

Officers spoke with the suspect who confirmed the couple were arguing and said she did push and hit the victim. The woman was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested. When she was told she was going to jail the woman replied “It’s OK, I know what I did was wrong,” the arrest report states. Bail: $3,137.

— A 66-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 4:22 p.m. in the 7000 block of Schulz Drive on suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the residence regarding a domestic battery. Dispatch advised the suspect called advising he had struck his wife in the face. Dispatch also advised the victim was on the phone and stated she did not need medical attention.

Deputies made contact with the suspect on the front porch. He was crying and the woman was patting his back. He looked at the officer and stated he needs to go to jail for punching his wife in the face. The officer looked at the suspect and clearly saw a black right eye with bruising and a steady stream of blood emitting from the area of the eye, the arrest report states.

The officer asked the victim what happened. She stated her husband and she have been having marital issues and talking of divorce. She stated the man had been drinking and became upset. She stated the man punched her in the face and threw her around the home.

The man again stated he needed to go to jail and apologized for striking his wife in the face and stated that there is no reason for hitting his wife. He was taken to jail without incident. Bail: $3,137.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Tuesday, 1:23 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Aug. 19, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Tuesday, 2:45 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear, issued Dec. 31, 2009 out of Douglas Tahoe Justice Court. Bail: $397.

— A 47-year-old Dayton man was arrested Tuesday, 11:08 a.m. in the 200 block of Bath Street on misdemeanor warrant charges of contempt of court and obtaining money under false pretenses. Both warrants were issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $2,266.

— A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 8:10 a.m. in the area of Second and South Roop Street on misdemeanor warrant charges for contempt of court. Bail: $1,107.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 7:58 a.m. in the area of Highway 50 East and Fairview Drive on misdemeanor charges of speeding 11-20 in a school zone, driving without a valid driver’s license, and two counts failure to appear in court on traffic violations.
According to the arrest report, deputies stopped the man for driving an estimated 35 mph in a 15 mph school zone. He was asked for his license and he said he didn’t have one. Dispatch confirmed he had two warrants for his arrest. Bail: $1,204.

Just before noon a fire was reported on BLM land in Brunswick Canyon.

According to Fire Chief Sean Slamon, it is a vegetation fire in a remote part of Brunswick Canyon.
