Evacuation orders in place for Kingsbury, additional Nevada areas in South Lake Tahoe

YERINGTON — Lyon County may have seen the highest water flow in the Walker River Basin with levels now beginning to drop some, County Manager Jeff Page said Wednesday. Many in the communities of Yerington, Mason Valley and Smith Valley have begun to take flood protection measures down.

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning and faces felony burglary and other charges after a homeowner caught the suspect breaking into his vehicle, holding him at gunpoint until sheriff’s deputies arrived.

UPDATE 11:20AM From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: Juvenile Sean Ascuaga of Reno was located at Marlette Dam. He was found safe and unharmed, but will be checked by paramedics before transporting back to Carson City to family members.

Search teams from Carson City and Washoe County are looking for a missing 17-year-old male who has been reported missing and was last seen in the Chimney Beach area of Lake Tahoe on Monday afternoon.

Carson City Fire Department was called Tuesday morning to the 900 block of Colorado Street for a report of a severed residential gas line.

UPDATE 11:30PM: The fire has been extinguished. The cause is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department was called Monday night to a structure fire reportedly burning in an abandoned building in the area of 1600 Airport Road.
