Carson City area weather: Gusty winds prompt Red Flag Warning through Tuesday
Strong winds and low humidity will arrive in western Nevada and Carson City today and Tuesday, with poor overnight humidity recovery, prompting the National Weather Service to issue Red Flag Warning for both days.
Monday is the biggest concern with strongest winds, gusts 35-40 mph, and for a much longer duration compared to Tuesday. The warning extends today until 8 p.m. On Tuesday, noon to 8 p.m.
The weather service notes this poses particularly dangerous situations near ongoing fires such as the Long Valley fire burning near Pyramid Lake.
Conditions will continue to cause widespread poor air quality due to smoke and haze, the weather service states.
Around Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, expect breezy conditions Monday and Tuesday with highs near 90, with Wednesday and Thursdays highs in the upper 80s to near 90.
