Carson City emergency crews report broken natural gas line has been clamped, area safe
A natural gas line that ruptured in the area of Corbett and Roop streets has been clamped and fire officials say the area is now safe.
Carson City emergency crews and Southwest Gas responded to the ruptured natural gas line this morning at around 8:35 in the area of Roop and Corbett streets.
Two nearby day care centers were notified of the leak and told to be prepared to evacuate.
It is not known at this time if the broken line was caused by ongoing road construction on Roop.
Carson City Fire Department officials on scene report that Southwest Gas crews were able to get near the point of the break and clamped the line as of 9:07 a.m.
The daycare and schools in the area are now being contacted and told the area is safe for return. Fire engines are returning to quarters.
