Americana music fills the air of downtown Carson City Saturday night
The 2018 Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series held its ninth of 10 free public outdoor concerts Saturday night, delivering the sounds of Americana to another packed crowd at the Brewery Arts Center.
Favorite local band Hick'ry Switch opened Saturday's summer concert, producing its own brand of alternative bluegrass music from the Minnesota Street Stage.
They were followed by the evening's headliner, Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers, who perform an eclectic mix of Americana, root, blues and New Orleans groove music.
Only one concert remains of the summer-long music series. Peruvian fusion band La Chamba takes to the Minnesota Street Stage Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. as the headliner of the season's final concert. The Giants of Zen will open for La Chamba at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to bring their own picnics, blankets and lawn chairs to the concerts, which will have an open lawn and lot setting. Food trucks, libations and kid’s activities will be available at each of the shows. The Levitt AMP concert series is located at 449 West King Street at the corner of King and Minnesota. Admission is free.
