Reno man arrested for stolen license plates, obstructing an officer
A 26-year-old Reno man was arrested Friday night for possession of stolen license plates, driving with a suspended license, a parole and probation hold and obstructing an officer.
Rudy Alexander Jimenez was taken into custody at 7:46 p.m. According to the report, deputies scanned Jimenez’s car and it returned with a stolen license plate warning from dispatch.
Deputies initiated a felony traffic stop at the area of Springs Rd. and North Carson St. in Carson City. According to the report, deputies ordered Jimenez out of the vehicle. He did not comply to the verbal commands from the deputies and stated he was “going to call his mother.”
Deputies approached the vehicle and instructed Jimenez to put his cell phone down and exit the vehicle. Jimenez didn’t comply to the commands once again. According to the report, deputies ordered him to put his hands behind his back. Jimenez did not comply and he was still holding his cell phone in his hand and away from his body.
According to the report, deputies placed Jimenez in handcuffs and he was escorted to a patrol unit.
Dispatch confirmed the license plates were stolen in Reno and reported by the Reno Police Department. According to the report, Jimenez stated that the vehicle “belonged to his mother” and he had “no idea” how the license plates got on the vehicle.
Jimenez was booked on possession of stolen license plates, driving with a suspended license, a parole and probation hold and obstructing an officer. Bail: $19,171
