Authorities release name of driver killed in crash south of Gardnerville
Nevada Highway Patrol reports that Gardnerville resident Terry Lyn Elmer, 46, was killed yesterday when the commercial vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a Ford truck towing a trailer on Highway 395.
The following is the statement released by NHP:
On Wednesday July 27, 2011, at approximately 11:14 am, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a three vehicle collision on US 395 South of Gardnerville.
The preliminary crash investigation details indicate that a commercial vehicle was traveling southbound on US 395. For unknown reasons the commercial vehicle with a male driver crossed over the centerline, striking the front of the silver ford truck towing a trailer that was traveling northbound. The trailer then broke loose from the silver ford truck swinging around and striking a white ford truck that was also traveling southbound. The driver of the commercial vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male occupant of the silver ford truck and trailer was transported from the scene, and flown to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight with moderate injuries. The female occupant sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The male and female occupants of the white ford truck were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Once the next of kin has been notified we will be releasing the name of the male driver.
UPDATE: Washoe County Coroners office has released the name of the driver as Terry Lyn Elmer a 46-year-old Gardnerville resident.
