Youth Theatre Carson City aims high with summer launch of 'Peter Pan'
Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce its upcoming production of Peter Pan July 31 through Aug. 9 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.
Based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved family favorites of all time. This high-flying Tony Award-winning musical has been performed around the world and delighted audiences for more than 60 years.
Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick Tinkerbell visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and with a sprinkle of pixie dust begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates, and of course the villainous Captain Hook.
Featuring the iconic songs "I'm Flying," "I've Gotta Crow," "I Won't Grow Up," and "Never Never Land," and a rousing book full of magic, warmth, and adventure, Peter Pan is the perfect show for the child in all of us who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up. The cast is comprised of youth ages 5-19. Leading the cast as the incomparable Peter Pan, is Alexa Haight, 15, a student at Carson High School. Also featured are Cassia Giustra, 14, as Wendy; Sydney Berg, 12, as John; Lilly Baum, 7, as Michael; and Joseph Campbell, 17, and Michael Frenchu, 19, who share the role of the villainous Captain Hook.
Peter Pan is directed by Youth Theatre Carson City founder and Northern Nevada native, Andie Anderson. Anderson has been a part of the arts community in Northern Nevada for over twenty years and earned her Master of Arts Degree in Theatre Education from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. This Fall Anderson will become the new Theatre Arts instructor at Carson High School and she is ecstatic to be back in her hometown sharing her love of the arts with the young people of this community.
Unique to this production are the high-flying special effects provided by ZFX, Inc., which make it possible for our actors to soar across the stage and into the hearts of our audiences at each performance. “This is our first time attempting this kind of technical feat in one of our productions,” Anderson commented. “We have an incredible team working together to make this production as magical as we can, and I cannot wait for audiences to see the hard work that both the cast and crew have put into bringing PETER PAN to life!”
PETER PAN will run eight performances July 31, August 1, 7, 8 at 7pm and August 1, 2, 8, 9 at 2pm in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street in Carson City, NV. Tickets are $12 General Admission, $10 Students and Seniors, For tickets or more information, visit our website at www.youththeatrecarsoncity.com or contact us at 775-882-0358.
