Nine National Miss Curvy delegates from Guam, Washington State, Texas, California and Nevada, had a very busy weekend in Carson City! We were also joined by our 3 Curvy Ambassadors-Pacific, Guam, and North America.

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of Macy’s "Yes Virginia: The Movie Musical," which will be available to view On-Demand from Dec. 18-31.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting this Thursday, 1 p.m. to discuss and take possible action regarding the appointment of a person to fill an anticipated vacancy in the office of Ward 3 Supervisor on the Board of Supervisors for a term that begins Jan. 4, 2021 and ends Jan. 1, 2023.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will take place Thursday, October 15, in the Bob Boldrick Theatre of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce our upcoming Virtual Summer Workshop Series, held exclusively online over six weeks, June 16 to July 23, 2020 as part of their YTCC@Home initiative.

Youth Theatre Carson City is bringing local experts, home-grown successes, and industry professionals from New York, Los Angeles, Boston and beyond right into your living room covering topics from acting and singing to theatrical design and songwriting to building relationships and becoming a successful professional in the arts.

Art in Motion presents it's Performance Groups taking the spotlight in Carson City this year for their annual Spotlight Dance Competition. This is a free public event. Happenings around the capital city Thursday include a cardio and strength connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, the launch of Thursday trivia night at Bella Vita Bistro, a Muscle Powered afternoon hike at Linear Ditch, plus Soroptimist International of Carson City hosts "Celebrating Women Helping Women" at the Carson Nugget. There's also a joint meeting of the school board and the board of supervisors, and a documentary viewing and discussion of "Screenagers" hosted by the Carson City School District. The Carson City School District will host two showings of a 60-minute documentary titled "Screenagers Next Chapter — Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience" Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson City Community Center. The two showings, beginning at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m., will be free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children.

This past weekend, Youth Theatre Carson City’s Showstoppers show choir traveled to Southern California to compete in the Musical Theatre Competitions of America 2020, a national competition with 35 teams representing 19 states and 3 countries, and brought home two major awards: 2nd place Advanced/Open Musical Revue and 3rd place Advanced/Open Ensemble Performance.

Heading into the last weekend of January there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson Valley’s 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest will be underway and live music will keep the Silver State buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce our upcoming production of Shrek the Musical, Jr, which will run for 8 performances over two weekends, January 17-26, 2020 in Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

The movie “Turn it Up” will be celebrating a "homecoming, of sorts" as producer, director, writer and Nevada native Michael Charboneau brings his film to Carson City for the Jukebox International Film Festival on August 20.

"Turn it Up” is a coming of age comedy about six guys from small town anywhere chasing the dreams of rock stardom. Through sheer tenacity and blatant exaggeration, their band Attitude Problem is offered the headlining slot for a day long music festival called, "Can Jam."

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce auditions for "Shrek: The Musical, Jr." The show will run eight performances, January 17-26, 2020 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center. We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers grades K-12, who will be cast to play a host of colorful fractured fairytale characters!

Youth Theatre Carson City will feature its production of Disney’s "The Little Mermaid, Jr." beginning this Friday and running weekends through August 4, 2019 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

This week's edition of It's Your City, host Cortney Bloomer sits down with Youth Theater Carson City's Andie Wilkerson and Aydree Shehorn to talk about the upcoming production of "Little Mermaid Jr.," which runs July 26 through August 4 at the Bob Boldrick Theatre inside the Carson City Community Center.

Each June, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recognizes quality of life, community and economic growth achievements.

At the Chamber annual meeting on June 13, Chamber Chairman of the Board Robert Fredlund will honor seven individuals or businesses that personify what Mayor Robert Crowell is so often proud to state, “Carson City is a great place to live, work, and play.”

The Carson High Theatre Arts department is proud to present "The Addams Family Musical" Friday, April 12 at 7 pm, April 13 at 2 pm and 7 pm, and April 14 at 2 pm.

"The Addams Family" is about a ghoulish American family who revolve around darkness and death. Wednesday, the daughter, falls in love with Lucas, a boy from Ohio. After many musical numbers, the ending is something quite spectacular. (I don't want to spoil it for you!)

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce its upcoming weekend springtime double feature, including "A Year With Frog and Toad, Kids," and Disney’s "The Jungle Book, Kids." These two shows will run in conjunction for four performances, March 29-31, 2019 the newly renovated Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

With the sponsored support of Carson Tahoe Health, the Carson City School District will host two evening showings of the 60-minute documentary titled "Screenagers" Thursday, Feb. 28, at the recently remodeled Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson City Community Center.
