South Lake Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic to celebrate the 1950s and fins July 24-25
The South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic returns to the Tahoe Keys Marina this month for the 8th year with a celebration of the '50s, big fins and Elvis.
The main July 24-25 event will highlight boats manufactured in the 1950s and any boats with fins, which are not exclusive to the 1950s as many first generation fiberglass boats as well as some metal race boats had fins. These beauties will be joined by all classic, vintage or antique boats.
The event kicks off Friday, July 24 with a showcase of wooden boats from noon to 5 p.m. There will be a Beer Village, featuring craft beer, unlimited sampling and a commemorative tasting glass; breweries represented include Anderson Valley, New Belgium, Drakes Brewing Co., Deschutes Brewery, Lost Coast Brewery, Rubicon and 21st Amendment.
Antique and Classic Boat Society, Inc. member events: Friday, July 24: 6 p.m. - Elvis' 80th and The Thunderbird's 75th birthday dinner, Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association Beach and Pool Site. Come dressed as a 50s icon.
Saturday's events begin at 9 a.m. and run through 5 p.m. with the Beer Village starting at 11 a.m.
Sunday, July 26: 11 a.m. – Antique & Classics Boat Classic picnic and awards presentation at Sugar Pine State Park, West Shore, Lake Tahoe.
Tickets: Event tickets are $15 in advance at www.tahoewoodenboats.com and $22 day of. Beer Village tickets are $20 each day.
Transportation: Shuttle service is provided from the Tahoe Keys Marina parking lots and run every 15 minutes throughout the event.
