Carson City arrest log: Man jailed on felony charge after allegedly making threat

A 44-year-old Dayton man was arrested Tuesday in the area of Champion and Airport Road on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly carrying a BB gun and telling a woman there was going to be problems with her husband when he returned home, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Robert Edwin Deuel was taken into custody at 12:21 p.m. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Poole Way after a report of a man with a handgun at the front door of a residence. While responding, dispatch advised the man returned to his vehicle, a blue GMC Spirit, and was last seen leaving north on Poole Way.

A short time later, a deputy advised he found the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at Champion and Columbia Way. Another deputy assisted with detaining the driver, Robert Deuel. Once he was detained, he granted officers to enter his vehicle and retrieve a black BB gun he had with him at 2200 Poole Way.

Officers met with the victim who said at around 11:30 a.m. they heard a car pull into their driveway and went outside to see who it was. The victim said they walked outside the residence and noticed a pickup parked in her driveway and a tall white man with blonde hair walking toward her. He identified himself to her, according to the arrest report.

The victim said once the male stopped to talk with her he asked if her husband was home. She replied no. The victim said she asked the man if she could let her husband know the man stopped by. The victim said the man said “no” as he turned away from her.

The victim said she noticed the man was holding a black handgun in his right hand. The victim also stated the man told her when her husband returns home that he was going to have problems, the arrest report states. Bail: $20,000.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a convenience store after dispatch advised a witness on a 911 said a man wearing a black shirt was hitting a female who was carrying a baby car seat. Dispatch noted the man had been attempting to start several fights in the parking lot with other patrons.

A deputy arrived and saw the man fitting the description walking south through the parking lot. The deputy asked for him to return and after several times the man complied. The man was identified and appeared to be under the influence. The officer asked the man if he was high and the man said he had smoked methamphetamine earlier. The officer asked the man to be honest and explain what happened as a second deputy went to speak with the victim.

The man said he and the victim had gotten a ride to the Rand Motel where they were going to stay for the night. The man said he saw the woman looking at other men and believed she was “turning tricks” or soliciting men for sex. The two began to argue and the man admitted to punching her with a closed fist in the upper part of both arms and in the face. The deputy asked the man if the woman hit him. He replied she had not, the arrest report states.

A witness confirmed what he had seen, saying the man punched the woman several times and grabbed her by the back of the neck. The witness provided a written statement.

The victim declined to fill out a written statement after she was asked about the bruises. She said that the man had been acting strangely when he got home and forced her into a taxi. She said when they got to the hotel, the man called her a “whore” and a “trick” and punched her in the forehead. The officer could not see a visible mark on her head. The woman said the bruises on her arms were from the man. Bail: $3,137.

He denied having identification on him and was hesitant with his name and date of birth and gave officers a false name. He was asked to exit the vehicle when deputies noticed a bulge in his front pocket. He removed a wooden box and placed it on the dash of the vehicle. Deputies asked him about the box and he stated he just found it. Consent was given to search the box which contained marijuana.

Information returning on the name the man gave deputies didn’t match. The man later came clean and stated his real name and that the marijuana belonged to him. The name he gave the deputy originally was that of his brother. Bail: $1,149.
