Carson City sheriff’s log: Arrests made for felony warrants, domestic battery

Carolyn Marie LaPlaunt, formerly of Carson City and having a current residence of Butte, Mont., was found by officers in the parking lot area of the Juvenile Probation Department on Saliman Road and was arrested at 9:53 a.m. The three warrants were issued June 24, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court.

The woman had a dog with her and provided a phone number for someone who could take custody of the dog. Dispatch attempted contact but were unable to reach the person. The dog was released to Carson City Animal Services, the arrest report states.

The suspect was driving a vehicle belonging to the victim of the grand larceny. The victim provided the paperwork on the car and he was allowed to take possession of it. Bail: $50,000.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to an apartment. The married couple were having drinks with a mutual friend when the couple began arguing over a drink that was poured out. The woman allegedly hit her husband in the face after he poured her drink out because she had already consumed several drinks and he didn’t want her to have anymore. The husband said he walked outside to avoid any other problems. Both were extremely intoxicated, according to the arrest report.

The woman told officers she and husband were arguing over their relationship and that he pushed her into the bathroom wall causing her to hit her head. Neither had injuries, according to the arrest report.

The friend provided a statement saying he watched the woman become upset with her husband when he took the drink away from her, slapping him, the arrest report states. He said the husband then walked outside. The woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery. While doing a warrant check through dispatch, officers learned the husband had a temporary protection order placed on him by his wife. The restraining order was served on Sept. 5, 2014 and was to expire Sept. 5, 2015, the arrest report states. He was taken into custody for violation of that order. The woman’s bail was set at $3,137. — A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 9:22 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Nevada Street on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, an officer patrolling the area saw a woman sitting in the bed of a station wagon, holding a cloth to her head, attending to a wound. The officer stopped to talk with the woman who said she was battered by her ex-boyfriend about 15 minutes prior.

The woman said she had arrived into town for court and since she didn’t have a vehicle and lived in Reno, she asked her ex-boyfriend if she could stay at his father’s home on Nevada Street. She said the man agreed. She said she fell asleep and then woke up to her ex-boyfriend calling her a whore and a slut and told her to leave the residence, the arrest report states.

The woman told officers the man began hitting her, at some point cutting her on top of her head. She said she walked to a friend’s business who allowed her to sit in their vehicle and gave her ice and a towel for her wound.

The officer found the suspect who corroborated that the woman came over and they got into an argument. The man told the officer he was hesitant to say anything at first and asked if he was going to jail. The officer told him he was there to investigate the battery and what he had observed from the female. The man later admitted they had a physical altercation, saying she hit him first and spit on him. He had no signs of injury. Due to the clearly visible injury to the woman, the man was arrested for domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
