Come Be a Part of Continuing the Legacy of Two Community Leaders

There is no one in this world that is going to get out alive, and every now and then we are hit in the gut with this reality.
In this last week we have lost two public figures: Eugene Paslov and Marv Texiera, who with their passion and enthusiasm for what they believed in, made a difference in our community.
This is a wakeup call for everyone who has stood by and watched other people do the work. What happens when they are gone?I cannot stress the importance that all generations work together, so the legacy that has been created by a few, can be carried forward.Eugene believed in the arts and education and was in the process of building the Performing Arts Academy.
For those who don’t think this pertains to you, take a look at your surroundings: the wonderful sculptures on the freeway throughout our city, Comma Coffee and June's colorful building that makes you smile with joy, Cafe at Adele’s and the flower baskets throughout our town are just a few of the wonderful things we enjoy.
Every one of us has the potential to add something to our community. Education comes in many forms, but one thing is certain: it is a learning process on many levels.
It takes people from all worldly and academic backgrounds to create a Village. A farmer or a chef has knowledge that you or I would never know existed, and they are every bit as important as the professor with the college degree. We all have our gifts and areas of expertise. We are never too old to learn, but it does take an open mind, heart and desire to give back all that we have learned to help others, so it can be passed down to generations.
Wednesday June, 18, 5:30 at Sassafras in plan B, the Downtown 2020 group is having a membership meeting and you are invited. We are all about creating a walkable, business friendly, beautiful downtown that is the Heart that keeps Carson City beating. Come see how you can make a difference; you do have a voice and it counts.
