Abortion rights activists gather at Nevada State Capitol Saturday to protest potential roll back of Roe v. Wade
Activists in support of abortion rights gathered Saturday afternoon at the Nevada State Capitol to protest against the nationwide issues surrounding the potential roll back of Roe v. Wade.
In Nevada, abortion is legal for any reason up to 24 weeks and legal after 24 weeks if the pregnancy is determined to potentially be fatal to the mother.
In 1990, nearly two-thirds of Nevada voters approved the ballot measure codifying state law.
Additional protections for abortion access in Nevada came in 2019 when Sisolak signed a bill removing a requirement that doctors share the emotional implications of undergoing an abortion with patients and repealing felony criminal penalties on abortion that have been in place since the early 20th century.
Nevada is one of 16 states that have codified abortion access in law, according to the Guttmacher Institute.

The protest is planned to continue through 3 p.m. Saturday.
