Quad County COVID-19 update: Pfizer walk-in clinics happening Friday and Tuesday in Carson City

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, May 13, 2021 that there are 14 new cases and 29 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region. This brings the total number of cases to 12,664, with 12,146 recoveries and 226 deaths; 292 cases remain active.

A 29-year-old woman was booked Wednesday for multiple alleged felony offenses after eluding officers in an early morning vehicle pursuit, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

He advised motorists to drive slow due to icy conditions on both sides of the interstate. I-580 was closed for several hours due to high winds, low visibility and blowing snow.

Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol division reports I-580 through Washoe Valley is temporarily closed Wednesday afternoon from Eastlake Boulevard to Bowers Mansion exits due to high winds, extremely low visibility and blowing snow leading to vehicle slide-offs.

The Nevada State Museum’s Family Fun Saturday: Nevada Reptiles scheduled for this Saturday, March 11, has been canceled. The Museum will still be open to visitors from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, forecasted inclement weather with potential localized and regional flood warnings for this weekend could affect these hours.

YERINGTON — Lyon County is encouraging residents to prepare for upcoming storm events expected to impact the region. The National Weather Service forecast is reporting an atmospheric river event beginning Thursday, March 9, 2023 through next week. The wet weather may bring strong winds and flooding to smaller streams, poor drainage areas and areas prone to flooding.

On Friday, Carson City Supervisors held a joint meeting with the Carson City Planning Commission, during which they directed staff to begin the process of suspending Title 17.10, which deals with Open Space Development.

With the potential for flooding due to an incoming warm atmospheric river storm system, the National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Flood Watch from Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning for Carson City and surrounding counties.

A public memorial will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8 to honor the lives lost in the Feb. 24 REMSA Care Flight crash near Stagecoach.

The public memorial follows a week of private memorials held for individual victims for family and friends.

Nevada Department of Transportation says snow showers tracking through the greater Reno and Carson City areas Tuesday morning are leading to light snow accumulations on roadways, especially through Washoe Valley on I-580 where NDOT warns of adverse driving conditions. Motorists are advised to go slow as the commute may be slick.
