Vehicle pursuit ends with man in custody near Carson City Rifle Range Friday morning

A police chase was brought to an end near the rifle range on Friday morning after multiple units from several agencies chased a man both in vehicles and on foot.

No injuries or property damage were reported.

The pursuit began before 11 a.m. and continued for approximately 30 minutes. The chase began at a residence on Hells Bells, during which it was reported the man had barricaded himself inside of a bathroom with a knife until he fled in his vehicle.

It is unknown what caused deputies to respond initially to the residence.

The man led them on a chase throughout Carson City on the freeway, before heading back towards Hells Bells and diverting onto Carson River Road.

The man made it around spike strips set up by NHP, as well as a semi-truck driver who attempted to block the vehicle to help deputies.

The man then continued onto U.S. 50 before turning onto Flint, and heading into the rifle range.

From the rifle range he continued onto a dirt path towards the water tower before fleeing the vehicle on foot.

Deputies gave chase and eventually detained him. The fire department is responding due to the man being pepper sprayed during detainment.
