Carson City jail inmate faces felony battery charge following fight over being 'disrespected'

A Carson City jail inmate was charged Sunday with battery by a prisoner after allegedly fighting with another inmate after he felt “disrespected,” during a workout session according to a Carson City sheriff’s deputy.

Stig Corrin Strong, 25, faces the felony charge after the incident in which an inmate was kicked, choked and battered. Bail has been set at $20,000. According to the arrest report, at around 5 p.m. officers went to check on a cell holding Strong and another inmate after a deputy said there was blood found in the cell.

Both men were out of breath with their shirts off when deputies arrived. The two men were separated. The victim, who had swelling over the right eye and scratches on his head, said that a few days prior the two got into a verbal altercation after Strong said he felt disrespected during a workout.

The victim stated that during the workout Sunday, Strong felt disrespected again and told the victim “that’s it,” and kicked him to the ground, fighting him. He said Strong held him to the ground and began to choke him with his elbow, demanding an apology. The victim claimed he apologized fearing he would pass out and Strong let him stand back up, the arrest report states.

The victim said once he was up he began to clean blood off of him and Strong told him to let him clean the blood off his back. The victim denied the help, telling Strong not to touch him. At that point Strong claimed he felt disrespected again and “began kicking my ass again for a good two minutes,” the victim stated. Strong told the victim to keep quiet and allowed him to get up at which point the victim hit the cell’s intercom to ask for help.
A deputy took pictures of the victim’s injuries. Strong did not have injuries on himself and blood was found on his pants. A deputy spoke with Strong and asked if he would like to give a statement regarding the incident and he said no. Both inmates declined medical attention.

The officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and he was asked if he had been drinking. He admitted to drinking four beers and said he was driving because he was more sober than any other person in the car.
