Carson City deputies make felony grand larceny and warrant arrests
A 34-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony grand larceny after attempting to steal more than $700 in merchandise from Walmart, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Shannon Spring Crawford of Gardnerville was taken into custody at 11:49 p.m. According to the arrest report, a deputy was sent to Walmart in the 3200 block of Market street regarding a woman who reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for a basket full of merchandise and was verbally uncooperative with store staff.
The deputy met with the store’s loss prevention employee and learned the suspect allegedly went to the self-checkout stand would would scan one item then place the scanned item and two to three items into a plastic bag.
After she completed her checkout, she left the self check-out stand and went back to the sales floor where she collected multiple items throughout the store and placed them in here shopping cart, according to the loss prevention officer.
The suspect then allegedly proceeded to the front of the store where she passed all points of payment. She was confronted by loss prevention at the exit and was kept there until a CCSO deputy arrived. Loss prevention provided a receipt in the amount of $733.18 worth of merchandise the woman allegedly stole. She was taken into custody. Bail: $25,000.
In other arrests:
— A 29-year-old man, Michael Perry Ferguson, was arrested Wednesday, 12:47 a.m. for a felony warrant issued March 19, 2018 out of Elko Township Court.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to the area of Musser and Stewart Street for a report of a verbal argument between a man and woman.
The reporting party told dispatch both subjects in the argument had left in a brown van last seen traveling west on Musser. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on the van at Stewart and Third streets.
Ferguson, the passenger, said he and his female friend were arguing because he wanted to turn himself in on the felony warrant but changed his mind. The warrant, which was confirmed by dispatch, alleges Ferguson failed to appear in court on a drug related charge. Bail: $5,000.
— A 20-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested Wednesday, 7:18 a.m. at 1600 Medical Parkway for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued May 1, 2018 out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 46-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday, 8:05 a.m. for a violation of suspended sentence warrant issued April 17, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
