Carson City arrests: Employee accused of taking money from dry cleaning business

A Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of burglary after allegedly stealing money from a local dry cleaning business, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Monica June Benjamin was taken into custody at 11:25 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street. According to the arrest report, a deputy responded Monday to a dry cleaning business in the 100 block of West Winnie Lane for a report of a larceny.

The officer met with the reporting party who said that sometime between 9 p.m. April 3 and 4 a.m. April 4 money had been taken from the premise. The video showed Benjamin handling the bag that contained money and detailed her moving the bag from one place to another and then leaving the business. The money was discovered missing at approximately 3 a.m. April 4. No other person was inside the business during that time, the arrest report states.

On Tuesday, deputies responded to a motel on North Carson Street to locate the woman and investigate the theft of money.
