Nowruz 'New Year' celebration in Carson City to benefit Veterans Healing Camp
Get your tickets now for the Annual Nowruz “New Year” Celebration Feast to benefit Veterans Healing Camp on Tuesday, March 21 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Casino Fandango Buffet Banquet Room in Carson City.
This casual and festive fundraiser features great food, music, dancing, silent auction and door prize. Nowruz is the ancient Persian “New Year” celebrated since 1700 B.C. that occurs on the first day of spring at the vernal equinox. Please treat your favorite veteran to a night on the town and support this great cause.
The celebration begins at 5:00 p.m. with fun, fellowship and information about Veterans Healing Camp. The delicious buffet dinner feast starts at 6:00 p.m. with all you can eat corned beef and cabbage, breast of chicken, curry sauce, steamed rice, pizza, green salad, fruits, cheeses, dinner rolls, and dessert. Enjoy a cup of healing tea in the magical tea tent draped in stunning, vibrant colors with luxurious fluffy pillows.
The celebration will really heat up at 7:30 p.m. and of with the traditional “fire jump” in the courtyard. Sean Cummings will perform beautiful bagpipe music as we celebrate the New Year by releasing all the negative events from last year and using the energy of the fires to fuel rebirth and new beginnings for the New Year. The celebration continues with live music and dancing in the banquet room with Randy Ide. There will also be a silent auction featuring valuable donated prizes from local businesses and a wonderful door prize drawing.
The ticket donation for the Nowruz “New Year” Celebration Feast to benefit Veterans Healing Camp is only $40. If you can’t make the buffet dinner, please come to celebrate the “New Year” with all of the great music at 7:30 for a small $10 donation. Tickets are available at the Casino Fandango cashier cage or by contacting Shahla Fadaie at 775-781-2394.
Veterans Healing Camp is a new nonprofit dedicated to helping our local veterans. The facility is located on a beautiful two-acre property on Highway 50 East in Silver Springs. The mission is to provide a safe place for fun, activities, and fellowship for our veteran community.
The goal is to help educate veterans to overcome fear and anxiety to live a healthy and productive life. The format will be veterans helping other veterans. Initial services provided for veterans will include job search and placement, alcohol and drug awareness, life skills assistance, managing finances, suicide prevention and awareness, and in the future, counseling on site from qualified professionals. Visit veteranshealingcamp.org for more information.
