The 2022 Aviation Roundup featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels graced the skies above the Minden-Tahoe Airport Saturday and will return again today, Sunday. Catch the awe-inspiring thrills of some of the world’s top aviation performers as they buzz, soar and perform aerobatic feats above the tarmac.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Carson City Wine Walk was taken over by spooky patrons wandering downtown in their funky Halloween costumes.

Capital City Women's Club at Empire Ranch has two new Championship winners! Congratulations to Vicki Barbaria who won Low Gross Over the Field and Loretta Szymanski who won Low Net Over the Field. The Carson City Planning Commission approved a request for a Special Use Permit for a new retail marijuana store at the Sept. 28 meeting.

The store will be approximately 4,000 square feet in size near the intersection of Hwy 50 W and S. Carson Street.

NV Energy and the Nevada Department of Transportation are announcing brief closures of Interstate 580 between northern Carson City and Washoe Valley during the morning hours this Sunday, Oct. 2.

CARSON CITY — The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, in partnership with Sierra Nevada Forums, AAUW Capital (NV) Branch, and the Brewery Arts Center, will present a series of election forums on Oct. 7, 10, 11 and 17 beginning at 6 pm each night at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St in Carson City. Doors open at 5:30 pm. The forums are co-sponsored by the Nevada Appeal.

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is warning drivers not to buy or use temporary dealer registration placards offered for sale online.

Rear Admiral Bruce L. Gillingham, the Surgeon General of the United State Navy, met with local dignitaries at the Carson City Chamber on Thursday, Sept. 29 to provide insight into how the U.S. Navy is protecting our country.

Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell presented a city proclamation declaring this as Navy Week in our city and members of the Carson City Navy League and those who were on hand to help launch the USNS Carson City in Mobile, Alabama on Jan. 16, 2016 were present including the first captain, Bob Wiley, who lives in Carson City, and ship sponsor Susan Crowell.

Gaming generated revenue at Carson City area casinos decreased 1.19 percent in August, while casinos at south shore Lake Tahoe led the state with a 26.84 percent increase, according to the latest figures released Thursday from the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semi truck happened Wednesday night in the area North Carson Street and Nye Lane, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed. The motorcycle rider died in the crash.
