Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Woman arrested for battery on deputy

A Carson City Sheriff's deputy was battered Friday night at 10:10 p.m. by a 39 year-old Carson City woman, leading to her arrest for gross misdemeanor battery on a peace officer as well as misdemeanor resisting and obstructing, the arrest report said.

According to the report, deputies arrived at a residences in the 4700 block of Conte Drive around 10 p.m. to serve an active bench warrant out of the Carson City Justice Court on a subject at the residence.

The warrant for two counts of misdemeanor violations of bail conditions was served to a 27 year-old woman living at the residence with her 39 year-old female partner.

The 27 year-old subject was verbally uncooperative with officers, who repeated directions to her multiple times before she complied, the report said.

The woman smelled strongly of alcohol, the reporting deputy said, and she admitted to drinking alcohol throughout the day. She would later show a breath alcohol content of .142 percent upon being booked into the Carson City Jail. Bail: $3,000.

As deputies led the 27 year-old woman out of the house, her 39 year-old female partner was becoming increasingly upset about her going to jail, the report said.

The 39 year-old woman began by shouting at officers, and then became physically aggressive by bumping into deputies, ignoring directions to back away, pushing, shoving and finally striking an officer multiple times with straight-arm blows to the head.

A struggle ensued to subdue the woman, who was described as out of control, violently hitting and lashing out at the arresting deputy. Multiple units were called to assist in the situation, the report said, and she was eventually handcuffed by two officers.

She continued screaming while in the patrol car and ride to the Carson City Jail, where she was escorted inside for booking. Bail: $2,500.

According to the arrest report, Steven Palmer was taken into custody for trafficking a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person after law enforcement had been dispatched to a casino parking lot to investigate a reported drug transaction.

Deputies approached an RV in the parking lot owned by Palmer, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the cab. When questioned by officers, Palmer admitted to having drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the RV, the report said. From outside the RV, officers could observe a clear glass meth pipe.

Palmer then handed over an empty baggy with white residue on it.

He was subsequently handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail. The RV was impounded and later inventoried. A search of the vehicle showed a baggie containing 29 grams of methamphetamine, as well as several new baggies used to package for individual sales and a kit containing tools for ingesting methamphetamines, the report said.

A K9 unit was used to perform an exterior sniff of the vehicle and returned with a positive alert at the passenger side door, the report said. Amato admitted to possessing a marijuana pipe in her purse, but neither she nor the driver admitted to any drugs inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed a black bag under the passenger seat containing a small green pill identified as a controlled prescription drug and two small baggies with a white crystal substance suspected of being methamphetamine, the report said.

A field test of the substance showed presumptive positive for meth, the report said.

He was placed in handcuffs and searched. Deputies found evidence of a brown gooey substance in torn plastic inside Fuentes' wallet, the report said. The substance was suspected to be heroin. It was field tested and returned presumptive positive for heroin.
