The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) is holding a kids camp event throughout the upcoming Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) Elk Camp & Exposition show scheduled for March 3-6 at the Reno / Sparks Convention Center.
As host of the Kid’s Camp, NDOW will feature fly tying demonstrations, wildlife tracking, and an Operation Game Thief display, among many other displays and demonstrations, during the four day event.
NDOW will also be on hand offering fishing and hunting licenses for sale.
“We are eager to reach out to the next generation of sportsmen,” said Ken Mayer, acting director of NDOW, “Sportsmen are at the heart of our wildlife management program, and we want to continually be a resource to them, as well as help recruit young people to this important community.”
NDOW will have revolving demonstrations and displays throughout the four day event. The schedule will be posted every day at NDOW’s 900-square foot booth, and attractions include a live great horned owl, fly tying demonstrations and seminars on tracking.
Attendees will also be able to talk to wildlife biologists and game wardens about hunting, fishing and habitat.
The booth will be staffed by experts throughout the show.
“We have many of our technical folks there to really tell the story of Nevada’s outdoor offerings and heritage,” said Mayer.
